Why Mommy Did You Know?

Hello! My name is Rachel and I am the Lactation Nurse who started Mommy Did You Know LLC. My goal is to equip new families with all the tools that they need to accomplish their goals.

This is an all-inclusive prenatal and breastfeeding resource for new families. All of my packages are based on over 10 years of professional, hospital, and personal experience. It would be a pleasure to partner with you on this journey, and please contact me at (561) 320-4338 if you have any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Rachel?

Hello, I am so happy you took the time to learn a little more about me! I am blessed to have a wonderful husband, Lucas, and 3 beautiful children, Mateo, Joseph, and Nathan. Together we also pastor a church here in West Palm Beach, FL.

It is so important to have a good support system, and I am so thankful that I have my church and home family at my side. It truly does take a village, and there are so many wonderful people that have made a great impact in my life.

My passion for maternal-newborn health comes from my 10 years of experience as a postpartum nurse. Even in nursing school, I always had my heart set on becoming a nurse in the maternity field.

I have special training in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), antepartum, pediatrics, as well as the newborn nursery.

In addition to my years of hospital experience, I also am an IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant), and a member of both the state and national chapters of the United States Lactation Consultant Association.

What is an IBCLC?

An International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) has the highest lactation certification available worldwide. With less than 30,000 consultants in the world, you can trust that you are in the best hands possible.

Although many people can claim to be a "Lactation Consultant", an IBCLC is considered an expert in the field. They have extensive experience with a wide variety of breastfeeding situations.

An IBCLC can assist mothers and their families even in the midst of high-risk situations and difficulties. They also have a code of ethics and operate according to their scope of practice.

Basically, an IBCLC is the "gold standard" of lactation support. They are who you want to go to when any breastfeeding issues arise.

What type of services do you provide?

Mommy Did You Know provides support for breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, milk supply, supplementation, latch concerns, oral function, milk transfer, return to work, prenatal preparation, and more.

Visits may be available in-home, in-office, or virtually depending on the service. More extended Lactation Intensive options are also available for families who need additional time and hands-on support.

Are your consultations covered by insurance?

I am so pleased to announce that most insurances will cover my services!

Covered plans include Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Florida Blue, United, Aetna, Pilgrim, and much more. If your plan is not covered, I can work with you to provide you with the documents you need for insurance reimbursement.

To quickly get approved:

1) Schedule your visit with me online or via phone at (561) 320-4338

2) Fill out the required insurance pre-authorization form

3) You will receive confirmation of coverage within hours of submission

4) If there is a problem with coverage we will come up with a plan together to make sure you get the support that you deserve. Discounted self-pay rates and insurance reimbursement forms are also available if needed.

How much do your services cost?

I will always be very open about the cost of your investment and what services are included. Many insurance plans (Cigna, BCBS, Florida Blue, etc) cover my prenatal and newborn services.

Self pay virtual consultations are $125 for one hour and you will also receive a copy of our visit. This is a great option for prenatal classes, pump sizing, follow up discussions, and simple breastfeeding assessments.

Self-pay home consultations start at $225 for an hour. These include a full head to toe on both mom and baby.

I also have additional online classes that you can sign up for.

*Special note* prenatal and lactation consultations are covered by most insurance plans! You will receive an insurance authorization once you book your time slot for the first visit. You can also call me at (561) 320-4338 for more information.

What should I expect during our visit?

I understand that a solid education can really change lives. That is why a consultation is an investment that will benefit both you and your baby for a lifetime.

Home visits include a full head to toe on mom and baby. We will observe at least one feeding, pumping session, and bottle-feed (depending on feeding choice). Other friends and family members are welcome to join in!

A virtual visit is an affordable option for families of all budgets. Telehealth visits always start with discussion followed by assessment of possible issues. We then create an individualized plan of care together.

All patients will have access to all of your electronic health records on our convenient patient portal! Also, upon request I will fax our visit summary to the Pediatrician and OB.

What is a Lactation Intensive?

A Lactation Intensive is an extended, hands-on visit for families who need more time than a standard consultation allows. It gives us the opportunity to work through feeding concerns in real time, practice techniques, make adjustments, and troubleshoot as things come up.

It can be especially helpful for more complex feeding situations or for families who want support through more than one feeding or pumping session. The goal is to help you leave feeling clearer, more confident, and more comfortable carrying out the plan on your own.

Families can choose between 4 and 6 hours of 1:1 support

How do I schedule a consultation?

As a parent, I know how important it is to make sure your child is safe and healthy. Because of this, I am available online and in-person to assist you during this important time.

You may schedule a consultation by calling/texting me at (561) 320-4338, emailing me at mommydidyouknow@gmail.com or booking online on the "consultations" tab of the main menu.

Once an appointment is booked, I will send the insurance authorization to see how many consultations you qualify for.

Those who are uninsured or not covered will receive a discounted "self-pay" rate.

I was nervous to reach out to a Lactation Consultant as a first time mom, but Rachel made me feel comfortable even before our in-person visit at home. She was able to squeeze me in the day after I reached out, which was amazing because I was quickly losing confidence in myself and my breastfeeding journey. Rachel was very knowledgeable and I learned so much from her only an hour. She is very kind and made me feel like I had know her for a long time. My baby and I are much more confident after our visit

I had a great experience with Rachel Da Silva from Mommy Did You Know. She came to our house, which was so convenient with a new baby, and made me feel comfortable right away. She took the time to look at both the baby and me, listen to what had been going on, and help me figure out different things we could try. She gave me a lot of helpful ideas and showed me some new breastfeeding positions that have made feeding so much more comfortable and easier for both of us. She also helped troubleshoot some of the issues I had been having and gave me different options to try at home. I really appreciated how much time she spent with us and how comfortable she made the whole experience. I would definitely recommend Rachel to anyone who could use some extra help with breastfeeding.

Rachel has been such a blessing to our family. As first-time parents, having her support, knowledge, and reassurance has been invaluable. She was able to fit us in within days of reaching out and has helped us with weighted feeds, feeding positions, pump flange sizing, pumping schedules, and overall newborn wellness. She also identified tongue and lip ties in our baby and provided recommendations for treatment options and trusted providers. Her calm, supportive approach immediately puts you at ease, and we are so grateful to have found her. We highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for lactation support!

Rachel is so great and knowledgable! As a mom of 3 and having worked in the NICU, she is always so helpful and makes me feel so much more confident breastfeeding after my visit with her! Couldn’t recommend her enough as I have had many visits with her and will continue to use her through my breastfeeding journey!

Rachel has been absolutely incredible to work with. Our initial Zoom session was informative and set such a helpful foundation going into postpartum. She arrived right on time for our follow-up visit and took the time to thoughtfully assess both me and my baby, which made everything feel very personalized and supportive. She got me on a schedule that actually feels realistic and doable, and helped me understand what to focus on without feeling overwhelmed. What I appreciate most is her kindness and depth of knowledge—she meets me exactly where I am and helps set expectations that feel both grounded and encouraging. She also went above and beyond by being available via text over the weekend to check in, understand where I was at, and help guide what our visits would focus on. I’m still working with her and looking forward to our next follow-up—highly recommend her to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable lactation support.
